Many Catholic and Christian couples and individuals seek out Dr. Hoover because of his background in theology and spirituality. At the same time, just as many clients choose to work with him without incorporating faith or spirituality into their mental health journey. With seven years of counseling experience, Dr. Hoover has worked with individuals and couples from diverse religious, cultural, racial, and socioeconomic backgrounds and is committed to deeply honoring the dignity of every person he meets.
"Empathy has no script. There is no right way or wrong way to do it. It's simply listening, holding space, withholding judgment, emotionally connecting, and communicating that incredibly healing message of 'You're not alone.'" -Dr. Brené Brown
Services
Adult Individuals
Individual therapy sessions are designed to address your specific concerns and help you navigate life's challenges. Through a collaborative and supportive approach, the aim is to empower you to overcome obstacles and live a fulfilling life.
Couples
Our couples therapy focuses on enhancing communication, building trust, and strengthening relationships. I provide a neutral and supportive environment for couples to address conflicts, improve intimacy, and foster a deeper connection.
Walk 'n Talk
I also provide the opportunity to do walk and talk therapy with clients after they sign an informed consent that privacy and other factors cannot be guaranteed in the same way as regular therapy. This can be a great resource for clients with depression, weight challenges, anxiety, and other presenting problems.

My Approach
Client-centered
There is no "one size fits all" that works in therapy but many therapists work as if every client has the same needs. I approach each client as unique and work to tailor an approach for each couple and individual. I find it exciting to work collaboratively and creatively with men and women to find the best and most transformative approach to their problems.
Humanistic
Warmth and genuineness can mean more than any words spoken in therapy. By believing in the intrinsic goodness of each person a healing process can happen through the therapeutic relationship itself. And by believing in each person's value, it helps me to not take sides in couples therapy or ever become judgemental.
Eclectic
I have worked to integrate the best of Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Prolonged Exposure, CPT, Solution-Focused Therapy, Single-Session Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, the Gottman Method, Positive Psychology, and more.
